Madonna

Madonna

Simply known as the “Queen of Pop,” Madonna was born in Bay City, Mich., in 1958, where she attended music, theater and dance school before moving to the Big Apple to pursue her now-iconic career. It all began with the singer’s groundbreaking 1983 self-titled debut, after which she maintained unbelievable momentum with a distinguished and expansive catalog containing one internationally successful album after another, helping her become one of the best-selling female artists of all time. With each release, Madonna reinvented herself — both in sound and image. Each evolution was paired with boundary-pushing and at times controversial music videos helmed by a fearless creativity that helped define the possibilities of the medium and pave the way for countless artists and videos to come. Madonna was recognized with Grammy awards for her 1998 full-length, Ray of Light, and 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor. Beyond her music career, Madonna has become a multi-talented star and businesswoman, including a fruitful acting career (she earned a Golden Globe for her part in 1996’s Evita), fashion line and a series of children’s books.
