Country-pop superstar Taylor Swift took home the first award of the evening at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, capturing the trophy for Album Artist of the Year.

Matthew Morrison of 'Glee' presented the award to Swift, who beat out Eminem, Lady Antebellum, Susan Boyle and Justin Bieber.

Swift thanked her record label, her family and gave special thanks to her fans. "You've just given me another reason to be completely in love with you," she told them.

Winning music awards is an old hat for the 21-year-old performer, who took home four Grammys last year. She's also a contender tonight for Top Billboard 200 Artist.
