Remember when we said that Taylor Swift's British Vogue cover was giving us an '80s vibe? Well, it should be no surprise to anyone that that was the singer's well-thought-out intention all along.

Swift, who releases her much-anticipated album, '1989,' later this month, reveals those intentions in a behind-the-scenes video showing her cover shoot for the November issue of Vogue UK. The nearly two-minute clip, titled 'A Conversation Between Mario Testino and Taylor Swift,' shows the superstar and the celebrated fashion photographer thoughtfully discussing style and nostalgia. It also shows her posing in a variety of positions, perusing the stylist's clothing rack (sweater tank!) and playfully singing a classic Four Seasons tune.

Want to know more about that Charlize Theron-looking new haircut of Taylor's? Mario asks her if she was shooting for a particular look for '1989,' and she answers: "Well, I cut my hair. So I've never had short hair before. That's a big theme in the album. But playing around with more kind of '80s- and '90s-inspired styles, mixing them with classic, has been kind of the style for the new record."

And the duo discuss how the '80s are still inspiring popular culture, despite that decade's many crazy, over-the-top styles. "Nostalgia works this way, whether you're thinking about a decade, or an old relationship, or whatever, a period of your life," Taylor reflects. "In looking backwards, you only see the highlight reel of the good things."
