If there's one thing that's true about the way the modern world works, it's that the Internet plays an integral part in pretty much everything. For example, you are on the Internet right now. So it only makes sense to compile a list of individuals who maintain the most influence on the Internet, which is exactly what TIME did. Celebrities like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift (who seems to spend most of her free time communicating with fans online) and Kim Kardashian (remember when she broke the Internet?) made it onto the list of 30, and considering their seriously intense fan bases, we weren't surprised by their inclusion.

Of course, Vine star Nash Grier also nabbed a spot, as well as YouTubers Tyler Oakley and Bethany Mota. All three started out online and have since channeled their massive success into the real world, where they're all involved in offline projects, ranging from movie roles to red carpet interviews to interviewing the President of the United States. Pretty impressive.

Other celebrities on the list are Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow and Shakira (in case you didn't know, she boasts 107 million Facebook fans, which is the most on the entire site) -- all of whom have managed to successfully brand themselves beyond the typical celebrity status by using the Internet to their advantages in a seriously savvy way.

J.K. Rowling and President Barack Obama also made it onto the list, both of which aren't surprising choices either. The most surprising entry of all has to be that of Caitlin McNeill -- yep, the girl behind #thedress.
