Taylor Swift Not Cast in ‘Les Miserables’ After All

No ‘Les Miz’ for Taylor Swift. After rampant rumors that the pop/country superstar would be playing Eponine in the upcoming big screen version of the musical ‘Les Miserables,’ producers have announced that British actress (and somewhat of an unknown in Hollywood) Samantha Barks would be playing the part instead. No big screen musical adaptations for Taylor Swift … Yet.

The long, blond tendrilled Swift and the dark-haired Brit Barks couldn’t be more different! It’s not known if Swift was truly in contention for the role or if she was offered it and passed. Barks, however, has plenty of previous history with Eponine, as she portrayed the character in a West End production. She also played the role in the 25th Anniversary Concert filmed at the O2.

According to Broadway World, Cameron Mackintosh announced the news live on stage last night (Jan. 31) after Barks’ performance in ‘Oliver!’ She plays Nancy.

Congrats to Barks on nabbing the role. We’re sure that Swift will be offered other parts in the future.
