A pilot who died in a mysterious plane crash in Nashville last month listed Taylor Swift as his next of kin. But the real mystery? Neither Swift nor anyone on her team has ever heard of the man.

Michael Callum, 45, was killed when his small plane crashed at Nashville International Airport on Oct. 29. Authorities investigating the incident discovered that he had listed the 'Red' superstar as his next of kin on papers filed with his home flying club.

"The first we heard of this was when the appropriate authorities contacted Taylor's management about the crash," Paula Erickson, the singer's publicist, told Nashville newspaper the Tennessean. "Taylor does not know this person."

The tragic case only becomes more mysterious as additional facts become known. No one knows why Callum was in the Nashville area, as his intended destination was some 500 miles away. He apparently circled the airport undetected for two-and-a-half hours prior to the crash, and the plane's wreckage went undiscovered for several hours. Part of the problem could have been that the aircraft's transponder wasn't working -- or had been turned off to avoid detection.

Swift, of course, has long ties with Nashville and has lived in the country music capital for several years. Her current home, near the city's Vanderbilt University, is a three-bedroom home boasting 20-foot-high windows and panoramic views.
