After tonight’s installment of ‘The Voice’ (Dec. 4), only four contestants remain. Tonight’s episode brought a few surprises as it solidified the remaining competitors, including performances by pop icons such as Ne-Yo and Matchbox Twenty.

Amanda Brown teamed up with Ne-Yo to deliver a high-energy rendition of ‘Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself).’ The multi-faceted artist has proven that she can excel in just about any genre, and tonight’s performance was no exception.

Christina Aguilera doesn’t have any singers left in the competition, but she hasn’t let that affect her love for the show in general. "The pressure is kinda off from me and I can kinda be like the rest of America right now," she said, sounding "kinda" relieved. "I’m curious to see who the final 4 will be after today."

According to Blake Shelton, the key to success on ‘The Voice’ is communication – and what better way to communicate than to collaborate? The first duet of the night featured Terry McDermott and Trevin Hunte as they sang OneRepublic’s ‘Feel Again.’ It was quite a passionate performance, and McDermott showed off his natural star quality.

Later in the evening, Brown and Cassadee Pope joined forces to showcase their version of ‘Breakaway’ by Kelly Clarkson. It wasn’t nearly as powerful as the first duet of the evening, but both singers are strong enough that they were able to mask any major inconsistencies.

As the night progressed, Matchbox Twenty performed their latest single, ‘Overjoyed,’ backed by Team Cee Lo’s Hunte and Nicholas David. David then made yet another onstage appearance alongside Team Adam’s Melanie Martinez for a unique interpretation of Fiona Apple’s ‘Criminal.’

When confronted with the possibility of going home, the long-haired soul singer answered with confidence. “It has been the experience of a lifetime, the opportunity of a lifetime, the dream of a lifetime," remarked David. Here’s what his mentor had to say: “Golly, I love this guy, just unconditionally … I just want you to know that no matter what happens, I am in your corner.” Shelton added, “I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nicholas to move on.”

As you can see, Adam Levine has been eliminated from the competition, but he seems to be remarkably okay with that. “I’m actually very much at peace,” he said. “This is but a small sprint in a massive marathon that is life.”
