All eyes were on The Weeknd at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards when "The Hills" singer set the record for most wins in a single night for a male artist. Last night (May 26), on the other hand, he was nowhere to be found during a planned performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

According to Rolling StoneThe Weeknd and Belly were slated to perform "Might Not" on the talk show, but pulled out when they learned Donald Trump was the episode's featured guest. Belly, who grew up as an immigrant in Canada, according to E! Newssaid in a statement that Trump's platform stood in stark contrast to his own values — particularly the politician's derision of women, people of color and certain religious groups.

"I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world — from religion to race," Belly said. "I just didn't want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that [the] majority of us don't agree with."

"Belly hopes that his fans understand his point of view, and he plans to make it up to them very soon," the rapper's rep added.

As a guest on Live!, Trump flip-flopped on a number of points of policy, particularly the rights of trans people to use bathrooms that don't correlate to the sexes they were assigned at birth.

"What I support is let the states decide, and I think the states will do — hopefully — the right thing," Trump said.

"And what's the right thing?" Kimmel followed-up.

"I don't know yet. I mean, I don't know," Trump concluded. "Honestly, I don't know."
