It must have been written in the stars for Tinie Tempah to become the first person to cop a pair of limited-edition 'Back to the Future II'-inspired Nike sneakers. The first pair of Nike Mags (aka "Marty McFly's") was auctioned off at an event in Los Angeles last Thursday (Sept. 8), and the London rapper paid an astonishing $37,500 for the illustrious kicks.

Yes, we nearly fainted, as well. A rep for the rhyme-slinger told TMZ that he's a serious sneaker fanatic, and when he saw the McFly's he had to get a pair. We also have to assume that Tempah is a movie buff, as well, since the shoes were inspired by the 'Back to the Future' franchise. Along with the McFly's, Tempah also gets a commemorative "plutonium case" to put them in.

Granted, paying nearly $38,000 for a pair of futuristic kicks sounds ridiculous, but the money is going towards a good cause. A total of 1,500 pairs of Nike Mags are being auctioned off on eBay until Sept. 18 with the proceeds benefiting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's disease research. So it doesn't sound so crazy after all, right?

If you have over $10,000 stuffed in your mattress, head over to eBay.com to check out the auction, or you can send the money to PopCrush. Just kidding!
