2014 is shaping up to be anything but a banner year for country star and former 'Celebrity Apprentice' contestant Trace Adkins. His wife, Rhonda, has filed for divorce after more than a decade-and-a-half of marriage.

The deep-voiced singer, who entered rehab to treat alcohol problems in January after a scuffle aboard a ship, and his wife were married for 16 years. Adkins left his stint at the rehab facility after two weeks in order to deal with the death of his father, Aaron, 71. He passed away in February.

See what we mean about it being a rough year for Adkins? He really has had quite a lot of difficult things to deal with.

PEOPLE reports that the soon-to-be-former Mrs. Adkins filed the papers in Tennessee on Tuesday, March 25. She listed "irreconcilable differences," which is a common reason cited for celeb splits when it comes to divorce filing.

In addition to seeking primary custody of their daughters MacKenzie, Brianna and Trinity, Rhonda has requested that Adkins, 52, pay child support, alimony and her legal fees.

Adkins, who sought treatment for previous alcohol issues, started off his year by getting into a heated and drunken exchange with a Trace Adkins impersonator while on a cruise ship. He had fallen off the wagon after being sober for 12 years and quickly checked into rehab to address his issues.
