U2 has been added as the third headliner to Glastonbury, an annual festival held in rural England. U2 are fired up to rock the Pyramid Stage on June 24 during the 2011 festival, especially after being forced to cancel their appearance at last year's event. Previously announced headliners include Coldplay and Beyonce.

The news of the Irish rock legends' addition to the lineup was announced Wednesday, Feb. 23, during the  NME Awards. U2's the Edge shared the news in a video message, and also congratulated Michael and Emily Eavis -- the father-daughter team responsible for the Glastonbury Festival -- on winning the Best Festival Award.

After the news broke, Michael Eavis commented, "After the disappointment of U2 being unable to play last year, we're now doubly excited at the prospect of the Friday night supergroup breaking the sound barrier."

"It's more a way of life than a festival," the Edge notes, who attended the festival last year and played with the hard rock band, Muse. "We're all looking forward to coming back to pick up where I left off. We're all so excited to be playing in front of the world's greatest festival audience."
