Waka Flocka Flame on the Tupac Hologram: ‘Hated It’
Undoubtedly, the Tupac Shakur Hologram was the biggest spectacle at this year's Coachella Festival. While it gave some people the creeps, others saw it as an innovative achievement for hip hop. However, there's one person who didn't like the virtual performance at all -- Waka Flocka Flame.
In a recent interview with Vibe magazine, the Brick Squad leader felt the Tupac hologram was exploiting the death of the late rap icon. "I hated it," he told the magazine. "That s--- wack. I don't think they should be doing that [because] they getting paid off a dead man's body."
"You don't know what a dead man be wanting to do. You gotta let that man rest in peace," he continues. "He's a great."
Waka Flocka may have a point, but we don't think Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's intentions were to get paid off the dead. The Tupac hologram wasn't for everybody, but for that moment at Coachella it was amazing.
Our only concern now are these rash talks about creating a Michael Jackson hologram and a Left Eye hologram for concert tours. Using this technology to bring back the dead will turn it into a gimmicky stunt rather than a heartfelt tribute for a late artist.
