In Wale's newest video for 'The Break Up Song,' which appears on his latest mixtape 'More About Nothing,' the D.C. native draws inspiration from the indie flick '(500) Days of Summer.' It is easy to see why Wale wanted to use images from the film, since both his song and the film deal with the difficulties of building and ending a relationship.

The beginning of the video starts off on a light note, picturing Wale as a child with actor Morgan Freeman giving a humorous narration. The bulk of 'The Break Up Song' video follows Wale through his college years. Like '(500) Days of Summer,' which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, the video non-sequentially chronicles the specific days of the relationship of Wale and another female student.

As the relationship progresses, it is obvious that the spark between Wale and his girlfriend is fading, just like Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel in the movie. On day 488, Wale and his lady are in a lecture class when the rapper tries to sneak a kiss. However, the girl shuts him down, acting distant and disinterested. The video also borrows the split screen 'expectations' versus 'reality' images from the film.

The imminent break up ends the video, with Wale's girl playing him and breaking up with him in a cold-as-ice manner. However, Wale won't let this stop him from still having fun, as viewers can see in the last few shots of the creative music video. We're sure that Wale's interpretation of '(500) Days of Summer' made director Marc Webb proud!
