Funny man Weird Al has made an entire career out of making fun of fellow celebrities, and this 'Perform This Way' parody of Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' is no different.

Truthfully, Gaga is an easy target with her wacky looks and strange style -- almost too easy -- and Al tried to avoid covering her at first. "I was really kinda predisposed not to do a Lady Gaga parody anyway because, well, that's what everybody in the universe was already assuming I would do," he writes in a blog post called 'The Gaga Saga'. "And I hate to be predictable."

We're glad Weird Al caved, because the outcome was a hilarious song which pokes light fun at Gaga's out-there taste in attire, with mentions to specific instances in her career. In particular, the song kicks off, "My mama told me when I was hatched / Act like a superstar," -- a clear jab at the way Gaga arrived at the Grammys inside of an egg.

But our personal favorite verse is the chorus, which can be sung along to the tune of 'Born This Way,' of course:

"I'm sure my critics will say / It's a grotesque display / Well, they can bite me, baby, I perform this way / I might be wearin' Swiss cheese / Or maybe covered with bees / It doesn't mean I'm crazy - I perform this way / Ooh, my little monsters pay ... Lots 'cause I perform this way / Baby, I perform this way"

Unfortunately, it seemed that the way Al nitpicked Gaga's sharp dresses (literally), raw meat style, and general weirdness didn't sit well with the 'Paparazzi' singer -- or so he was told. "The following song was supposed to be the first single from my upcoming album..." the video states at the beginning. "Unfortunately, it did not receive Lady Gaga's approval."

But Weird Al has since gotten to the bottom of the saga, and apparently, Gaga hadn't even heard the song because her manager didn't send it to her. "Gaga’s manager has now admitted that he never forwarded my parody to Gaga – she had no idea at all," Weird Al writes. "Even though we assumed that Gaga herself was the one making the decision (because, well, that’s what we were TOLD), he apparently made the decision completely on his own."

Al adds, "He’s sorry ... And Gaga loves the song."

We figured she'd love it, because 'Perform This Way' is more than just a jab at Mama Monster, it's actually a homage -- and a funny, one too -- because it brings light that Lady Gaga will actually wear anything.

... Except white after Labor Day.
