This week’s top lyrics go to the ladies. From self-empowering jams to farewell ballads, these songstresses have it all covered.

Hands down, two of this week’s biggest tracks are Lady Gaga‘s ‘Applause’ and Katy Perry’s ‘ROAR.’ While they both have undeniably catchy beats, the lyrics also prove why these songs are destined to be hits. Two of this summer’s breakout stars, Ariana Grande and Lorde, also showed off their lyrical prowess with ‘Baby I’ and ‘Royals,’ respectively. And lest we forget fall is quickly approaching, Lana Del Rey is taking it down a notch with the cinematic ‘Summertime Sadness.’

Check out our favorite lines from each of the songs and vote for your favorite below! You can vote once an hour until the poll closes on Aug. 23 at 2PM ET.

Lady Gaga, ‘Applause’

One second I’m a Koons, / Then suddenly the Koons is me. / Pop culture was in art now, / Art’s in Pop culture in me.”

Lady Gaga threw herself full-force into the realm of pop culture when she dropped her first album, ‘The Fame.’ Five years later, it’s undeniable that Mother Monster is a fixture in the pop world. Gaga acknowledges this transition in ‘Applause,’ the first single of ‘ARTPOP.’ And, hey, who are we to argue that she’s not as influential as a masterpiece from Koons?

Katy Perry, ‘ROAR’

I guess that I forgot I had a choice / I let you push me past the breaking point / I stood for nothing, / so I fell for everything.

Playing off of Alexander Hamilton’s adage that it’s vital to have a strong beliefs system, Katy Perry is reflecting on those time she didn’t speak up and how now she’s not afraid to roar. The ‘California Gurl’ is all about empowering others, though, as she encourages them to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.

Ariana Grande, ‘Baby I’

When I try to explain it, I’d be sounding all crazy / Words don’t ever some out right / I get all tongue-tied and twisted, / I can’t explain what I’m feeling.”

Don’t worry, Ariana, we get tongue-tied at least once a day. In ‘Baby I,’ the singer manages to make the feeling of utter speechlessness seem romantic. Well done, girl.

Lorde, ‘Royals’

My friends and I we’ve cracked the code / We count our dollars on the train to the party / And everyone who knows us knows / That we’re fine with this, we didn’t come from money.”

Lorde has it right. Life isn’t about material things, but the people in your company. Although she lists off some of the finer things in life, like expensive watches and private jets, the singer keeps it real, taking public transit and embracing her humble lifestyle.

Lana Del Rey, ‘Summertime Sadness’

Oh, my God, I feel it in the air, / Telephone wires / Above are sizzling like a snare / Honey, I’m on fire I feel it everywhere / Nothing scares me anymore.”

Summer has a magical quality where everything seems brighter — including summer flings. In this warm-weather hit, Lana notes how the the hot temps make her feel infinite, but how everything comes to an end. Can it be summer forever?

Next: Vote for Lady Gaga's 'ARTPOP' or Katy Perry's 'Prism'
