If someone drives an ugly car that's worth $900,000, we have to assume they are a tad selfish and showy, but not in will.i.am's case.

TMZ caught up with the 'Scream & Shout' artist, who says that his outrageously expensive car is actually being used as a teaching tool to help inner city kids learn real-life application of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. But before the courses can teach anything, these cars need to be built to use as models, and thus will.i.am's "Dick-Tracy-from-the-future jalopy" (as TMZ dubbed it) was born.

The Black Eyed Peas member continued, "I invest in tools, so kids today can have the skills for tomorrow." Very progessive, Mr. i.am!

And for his next automotive trick? will.i.am says he wants to build an electric car like a Tesla, which has been recently making big waves in the automotive world.

will.i.am is no stranger to charitable work. He previously recorded a song titled 'In My Name' to help end poverty around the world. Currently, he is getting behind an initiative with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg that is encouraging kids to learn computer programming.

He's said it before and he'll say it again: will.i.am is SO 3008.
