Things Willa Ford wants to be: bad.

Things Willa Ford does not want to be: misrepresented.

The singer, who opened up about the point at which her career stalled in the early aughts in a recent interview with Billboarddrew ire from readers when she seemed to imply that her second album was derailed by the events of September 11, 2001. Now, she's clarifying that the point has been totally exaggerated, and that the media has read way too much into the remarks.

“In a recent interview with Billboard, I made a comment about the release of a single by my record label on September 11, 2001, where I stated ‘Everything that happened that day froze; the world stood still as it should have.’ During the past day, other news outlets have taken the liberty to say that I somehow blamed 9/11 for my song not taking off...this could not be further from the truth," she said.  “It was meant to be an inspirational piece about how the universe sent me in a new and different direction, one that has led me to success and joy in other areas of my personal and professional life.”

And while it's been years since Ford's last single or album drop, don't count her out just yet.

“I’d love to hit the gay club circuit because it would be so empowering and fun every night,” she said. “I miss being on the road more than any of it.”
