'Black and Yellow' hitmaker Wiz Khalifa snagged the coveted newcomers award for Best New Artist at the 2011 BET Awards on June 26, up against some true competition.

Khalifa battled and won against other great new faces like J. Cole, Bruno Mars, Miguel and youngster Willow Smith for the trophy, which he told the audience he wasn't expecting to win at all. "I'm not used to winning stuff, so I didn't come with no speech or nothing," the cool and collected rapper said, thanking his record label and "everyone who helped start my career and get me to where I'm at."

Before leaving the stage, 23-year-old Khalifa imparted some good karma on his fellow youngsters. "All the young people who promote positivity and just having fun and enjoying yourself, man, this is for y'all."

Khalifa waltzed onto the music scene back in 2006, but it wasn't until his debut single on Atlantic records, the fall 2010 colorful hit 'Black and Yellow,' that he really made waves. The young rapper shook up the charts when his single smashed into the Billboard 100, finally settling in at No. 1.
