It's official! Antonio 'L.A.' Reid has been hired as the Chairman & CEO of Epic Records. The appointment comes after the music mogul left Island Def Jam Music Group after seven years of managing superstars like Rihanna to become a judge on Fox's new show, 'The X Factor.'

In a statement, Reid said:

"I look forward with great enthusiasm to joining the Sony Music family as it affords us the opportunity to build Epic Recordings as the revolutionary music company of tomorrow. We are deeply committed to discovering and developing the next generation of superstars as well as implementing a fresh and innovative business model."

It shouldn't be hard for Reid to discover his next superstar. As a judge on the 'X Factor,' alongside Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, the music executive should be able to find a talented singer among the thousands of people auditioning for the show. We shall see in the fall when the reality-competition series premieres Sept. 21.

As PopCrush previously reported, Ciara is among a bevy of artists looking to join Reid at the newly-revamped label. In addition, Usher, Mariah Carey and the soon-to-be divorced singer Jennifer Lopez could be following suit, as well. “He’s a good A&R guy and he’ll do a good job," said an insider at the label.
