Marcus Canty, an R&B singer with a smooth voice and smooth moves, took on a song by a singer known for those same characteristics -- Bobby Brown. It wasn't a stretch for Canty, but he rocked 'Every Little Step' of the song like a true pro on tonight's 'X Factor.'

Canty's mentor, L.A. Reid, said, "I gotta kid that sounds like Bobby, so this week I'm gonna give him a Bobby song."

"If I'm gonna sing like Bobby Brown, I gotta move like Bobby, too," remarked Canty prior to taking the stage.

Dressed in a hybrid of a blazer and a high school letterman's jacket, Canty kicked off the performance with a couple of lines from the B.o.B. / Bruno Mars tune 'Nothin' on You.' He quickly flipped the switch to Bobby Brown's uptempo 'Every Little Step.'

Canty kept up with his backup dancers step for step, and delivered a solid vocal performance throughout.

"I didn't feel like I was watching a competition, I felt like I was watching a concert," remarked Nicole Scherzinger.

L.A. Reid, who actually co-wrote 'Every Little Step' with Babyface, told Canty, "You keep getting better and better … America loves you!"
