Xzibit Fuming Over Planking Craze

At least one person is not happy with the recent planking craze. Rapper Xzibit has said the trend makes him angry because he believes it has its roots in slavery.

We've been reporting a lot on the planking phenomenon at PopCrush, starting two weeks ago with a series of photos of musicians planking. Just this week, we showed you Katy Perry planking on a yacht, followed by more planking poses from the likes of Justin Bieber and Flavor Flav.

On Wednesday, Xzibit took to his Twitter account to blast the craze: "Planking is the dumbest sh-- ever. Planking was a way to transport slaves on ships during the slave trade, its not funny. Educate yourselves." The former host of MTV's 'Pimp My Ride' continued, "Don't get it twisted. I care less where your dumb a--es lay face down and take pictures of the sh--, I'm just telling you where it came from."

This morning, the rapper added another message critical of the media for making him the de facto anti-planking spokesman. He wrote,"They are trying to make me the Al Sharpton of planking. News?"

We wonder if Xzibit's tirade will make others have second thoughts about planking, or if people will think he's overreacting about an innocent trend.
