Young the Giant brought some rock star recklessness to Sunday night's VMAs on MTV. The Irvine, Calif. rock band performed their hit song 'My Body,' which culminated in lead singer Sameer Gadhia stage diving into the audience.

Gadhia didn't have to count on celebrities like Justin Bieber and Katy Perry to catch him, however. The 250 fans in front of him were brought in from the band's hometown. They received him gently and quickly ushered him back to the stage to finish the song. Ironically, 'My Body' seems to be about becoming successful and leaving old friends behind. Young the Giant must have not left their friends in Irvine with hard feelings.

'My Body' has had a big year. The song was featured on 'American Idol' and performed on ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' It was also a Top five hit on the alternative rock charts earlier this year. Young the Giant played the main stage at Lollapalooza this summer, and the band will hit the road to begin a tour with Incubus on Tuesday.
