YouTube Vlogger Zoella Becomes Fastest-Selling Debut Author in the UK

YouTube star Zoe Sugg — she goes by the name Zoella on YouTube — has another title to add to her list of accomplishments. Not only is she a crazy-popular beauty and fashion vlogger and one-time interviewer of famed boy band One Direction, but she is now a best-selling author, too.

According to PEOPLE, Zoella’s debut novel ‘Girl Online’ sold more than 78,000 copies in its first week, which makes it the fast-selling novel for a first-time author in the UK.

In an interview with the Guardian, Zoella said of her success: "It’s such an amazing feeling. I’m so grateful to everyone who has bought a copy of 'Girl Online.' I love that so many of my viewers are enjoying the book! This year has been so exciting and this for sure is the icing on the cake.”

The release of her book marks the fulfillment of a dream she says she’s had since she was 14, when she first knew she wanted to write a book.

“I started writing my blog in 2009 and would never have imagined it would bring me the opportunity to make my teenage dream come true,” she said.

In case you were wondering, 'Girl Online' isn't a book on beauty, but rather it's a fictitious, young adult novel about a girl named Penny who blogs under the alias of GirlOnline (they say write what you know, right?), but when things suddenly get bad for Penny she goes to New York where she meets a boy and blogs about falling in love.
