Will the next One Direction tune we hear on the radio be penned by Zayn Malik?

According to British DJ and songwriter Naughty Boy, it’s a big possibility! The 1D singer has been working with Naughty Boy for the last few months, blasting the new work relationship and friendship to his fans with his many Naughty-related tweets.

Naughty Boy, who produced ‘La La La’ featuring soulful crooner Sam Smith, recently dropped a few hints to Capital FM on what can be expected from the collab with Zayn.

“We’ve done something with him that might be a One Direction single,” he admitted. “It sounds like them and it sounds like me.”

He added, “Me and Emeli [Sande] wrote it, and Zayn actually wrote on it too, but it does sound like them. But the natural ‘next’ them.”

One Direction made a jump in sound between their second and third studio albums, so it follows that we can expect another transformation for the fourth album.

“They’re all becoming like their own unique person, so I think that’s when you’ll get the best songs,” Naughty Boy continued.

Apparently Zayn especially has been working on his songwriting abilities, thanks partially to the support from the DJ.

“I’m encouraging him to be a great songwriter and sing great songs,” Naughty Boy said.

Directioners, what would you like to hear in One Direction’s “natural” sound progression?
