Zayn Malik — you know, the guy with the shaved head who used to be in One Direction — finally broke his Twitter silence and composed his first tweets since leaving us blubbering hot messes quitting the band.

On Monday, April 20, the world abruptly came to a halt as Zayn tweeted two messages thanking fans, joking around, and using emojis, the combination of which has caused Directioners to lose their freaking minds.

Zayn wrote:

Which, of course, immediately sent the entire fandom into a frenzy, as the fans instantly trended #ZaynWeveMissedYou and reacted accordingly:

Until today, Zayn hadn't tweeted since that practically incriminating message from March 18 — you know, the one where he referred to haters as "jealous f---s" and declared his love for fiancée Perrie Edwards after rumors flew that he cheated on her. It was the tweet that made the fandom realize how much stress and pressure Zayn was under because just a few days later, he quit the band.

Since Zayn left the group, he's shaved his head, pierced his nose, may have worked on new music with his producer bestie Naughty Boy, gone on vacation with Perrie and sincerely thanked the rest of 1D during a heartfelt speech at the 2015 Asian Awards.

The remaining four members of One Direction, for their part, have continued to tour and will record — at least, according to Simon Cowell — their best album yet.
