Jay-Z's streaming service TIDAL may soon be getting a boost from Rihanna.

Rumors that Rihanna's upcoming album -- tentatively titled R8 -- will be exclusively launched on the site have been circulating the web for a few months now. Rihanna promptly shot down said speculation by tweeting the following, back in late March: "LIES!!!!" along with a link to an article claiming TIDAL's hold on her music, because Rihanna is nothing if not succinct.

But according to Hits Daily Double, the site may have brokered some sort of exclusive deal with Rihanna after all, because what's the point of having a conglomeration of powerful pop artists on your side if you're not going to use it to your advantage? While exclusivity of any kind has yet to be confirmed, Rih's album has certainly been long anticipated, which could boost sales if the only way to hear it is through TIDAL. Audiophiles who double as Rihanna stans would certainly appreciate the site's high-definition audio, one of its main draws.

While releasing the album exclusively through TIDAL is a strategy that may ultimately prove successful for the site, it remains to be seen whether Rihanna's star status will be enough of a draw to bring users in. Her latest single "American Oxygen" premiered exclusively on TIDAL but is currently falling short of financial expectations, having only sold around 7,000 copies in the past week alone -- paltry sales for a powerhouse like Rihanna.
