Katy Perry

A self-described "singer-songwriter masquerading as a pop star," Katy Perry amassed an impressive string of hits with candy-coated pop confections and her candy-colored, ever-changing style. Blessed with both sexy, pin-up looks and a relatable, fun personality, Perry not only became a chart success but a social-media superstar. Born to a deeply religious family in 1984, the native Californian first attempted a gospel career as a teen. Turning to pop, she knocked around the industry for years before 2008 single 'I Kissed a Girl' put her on the map. Katy's 2010 album 'Teenage Dreams,' featuring mega-hits 'California Gurls' and 'Firework,' made her a star. It also made history as the first album recorded by a female artist to produce five No. 1 singles. Hit single 'Roar' helped her fourth album, 'Prism,' to debut at the top of the Billboard albums chart in late 2013.
