Stepping up his promo game in ways that One Direction never did (or, with their hectic schedule, perhaps never could), Zayn Malik's landed another magazine cover, this time for L'Uomo Vogue.

The 22-year-old unveiled the black-and-white image via Instagram today (January 11), and the magazine shared two photos from their shoot on their own account shortly after. The images, shot by photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, will appear in the magazine’s upcoming January 2016 issue.

While frustratingly few details about Zayn's solo work have been revealed, it's likely the former One Direction singer is gearing up for a 2016 release. During his recent Billboard cover story, Zayn offered the names of three tracks that’ll likely be featured on the forthcoming album -- “BeFour,” “It’s You” and “Wrong” -- and his sound has been compared to the likes of Drake and The Weeknd.

It’s a far cry from the indie pop-rock of One Direction, which Zayn is more than eager to move beyond. In the cover story he said, "I genuinely enjoyed [the band] and did whatever I could to be myself within that, but it’s just not where I sit as a musician. The other boys’ taste was generally indie rock. It’s good music, but I don’t f— with it. That was never cool where I was from."
