Zendaya looked positively radiant at the 2015 Oscars, choosing to wear her hair in long, flowing dreadlocks that made a powerful statement. But according to Giuliana Rancic, the dreads made her look like "she smells of patchouli oil" and "weed." Yikes.

Many took the Fashion Police host's harsh remarks (which you can see in this Vine) to be extremely insensitive and racially-charged. And Zendaya herself tweeted a powerful, eloquent response to the incident, calling the comments "ignorant slurs and pure disrespect" while simultaneously referring to numerous, successful black women with dreadlocks who don't fit the stereotype.

"To say that an 18-year-old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or 'weed' is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive," Zendaya wrote. "… There is already harsh criticism of African American hair without ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair."

See her full response in the tweet below.

Giuliana Rancic later tweeted an apology to the actress and anyone else she may have offended:

About an hour later, Kelly Osbourne also chimed in to the controversy, this time lashing out at haters to explain that she and Zendaya are friends and that both parties are handling the situation.

What do you think of Giuliana Rancic's comments about Zendaya's dreadlocks? What do you think of Zendaya's response?
