There are still a hefty two months left in 2011, but MTV is already rolling out the red carpet for the 2012 VMAs and the MTV Movie Awards. The "music central" of TV stations announced the dates for two of its biggest events on Thursday.

As expected, the nods for next year's biggest music videos will go out about a year after this year's VMAs -- on Sept. 9, 2012 -- and we bet the network is hoping for a repeat of this year's ratings. MTV pulled in their biggest audience ever in 2011 with 12.4 million viewers, partly in thanks to Beyonce and her baby bump, which was revealed on the red carpet and again during her live performance.

Even though Bey's bump has since been in question, it was undoubtedly the announcement of the year. Additionally, Lady Gaga graced the stage as a man, Jo Calderone, and Katy Perry took home Video of the Year for 'Firework,' making for quite the show.

The MTV Movie Awards will air live a few months earlier on Sunday, June 3.
