Amber Holcomb Shines on ‘American Idol’ With Kelly Clarkson’s ‘A Moment Like This’

Amber Holcomb just keeps getting better, and she proved it on ‘American Idol’ tonight (March 13). The young singer delivered a passionate performance of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘A Moment Like This’ and knocked it out of the park. No, we really mean it – she blew us away in that long, flowing dress with the wind wafting through her hair.

“That was the best performance of the night, seriously,” declared Nicki Minaj. “Your voice and your aura reminds me of Whitney Houston’s first album.” She went on to name all of the other things she loves about her, including her charisma, beauty and grace – not to mention her stunning vocals. “I can’t wait to see you spread your wings and fly,” she added.

Holcomb was sent home during Season 11 of ‘Idol’ and was criticized for her lack of confidence. Now, it’s clear that she’s found her niche and isn’t afraid to show America what she has to offer. “I feel like you have arrived and you now believe you belong here,” remarked Randy Jackson. “You really sounded magnificent,” praised Mariah Carey. “You have a natural gift, and it’s beautiful, and it’s something that can’t be explained.”

Since Holcomb’s birthday is right around the corner – in fact, it’s on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) – host Ryan Seacrest invited her stepmom onstage to give her an early birthday gift.
