Justin Bieber visited the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam and left a questionable message in the guest book. It's quite the gaffe, since it's so poorly communicated and written. As if the Biebs didn't have enough controversy in his life as of late.

As most of you may already know, Frank is one of the most emblematic and visible figures of the Holocaust, as her diaries are intimate historical documents and the basis of several films. The young Jewish girl was a victim of the concentration camps, dying in 1942 at the age of 15. Her diaries documented the German occupation of Holland as she and her family hid in secret rooms in an office building to avoid being captured and shipped off to a camp. Tragically, she and her sister were eventually discovered and ultimately lost their lives.

People can visit and tour the home in which she hid, which Bieber did.

The staff posted a note on the museum's Facebook page about its famous visitor, revealing:

Yesterday night Justin Bieber visited the Anne Frank House, together with his friends and guards. Fans were waiting outside to see a glimpse of him. He stayed more than an hour in the museum.

Not a big deal, right? Pretty cool of The Biebs to visit a historical place and take in some culture from the region and to pay his respects, right? Uh, wrong.

The post continued:

In our guestbook he wrote: 'Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.

Okay, let's dissect this for a second.

On one hand, The Biebs' intention seems harmless. Most Beliebers are the same age as Frank was during the period in which she kept her diaries. He may have meant that a young girl like Frank should have been concerned with things like that most teenagers like; instead, she was fighting for her life and trying to avoid Nazi capture, and therein lies her tragedy.

But that's just our interpretation and we're pushing it...

On the surface, it's a reaaaaallllllllyyyyyyy dumb and insensitive comment. Like stupid. Frank was a girl being hunted and fighting for her life. To say he hoped she'd have been a Belieber is sorta ridic, since she had to deal with, you know, attempting to survive.

Come on, Biebs.

However, we do hope his comment inspires some Beliebers who may not have been familiar with Anne Frank and her story to learn it. That would be a good thing.
