Beyonce’s ‘1+1’ Was Originally The-Dream’s Demo, ‘Nothing But Love’

Before Beyonce turned ‘1+1' into a song on her upcoming album, ‘4,’ the track started out as a demo called 'Nothing But Love' by The-Dream, who co-produced the Beyonce track.

While The-Dream's version is very similar to Beyonce's track, his demo contains a little more instrumentation and backing vocals. Beyonce's ‘1+1’ takes The-Dream's demo and strips it down to the raw, emotional track that recently received a four-star review here at PopCrush. However, some of the vocal inflections between the two tracks are eerily alike.

As evidenced by Beyonce's performance of ‘1+1’ on the season finale of 'American Idol' -- as well as a clip of her practicing the tune before the show -- the decision to pass the song onto the former Destiny's Child singer seems to have already paid off for The-Dream. That's not to say that he couldn't have scored a huge hit with the tune himself, as his version is quite stunning in its own right.
