Beyonce‘s camp released a list of the R&B queen’s charitable contributions to the media in response to Harry Belafonte’s criticism that she and her hubby, Jay-Z, are not socially responsible. An e-mail was sent to the Wall Street Journal, which contained “an abbreviated list of the unselfish work Beyonce has done and continues to do.”

The tally included co-founding the Survivor Foundation, “a multi-purpose community outreach facility in downtown Houston”; donating “100K in 2008 to the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund to aid Texas victims of Hurricane Ike”; performing in “MTV’s Hope For Haiti Now! Benefit, in addition to making a generous monetary donation,” among many other charitable activities.

We would also like to add to that list of Beyonce’s contribution to the annual World Humanitarian Day initiative. The Grammy-winning singer performed a rendition of ‘I Was Here’ at the United Nation’s General Assembly. The “breathtaking” performance was filmed and the video will be released on World Humanitarian Day (Aug. 19) in hopes of uniting one billion people in a show of humanity and strength.

Last week, Belafonte told the Hollywood Reporter that he was disappointed with black celebrities who lack “social responsibility.” “I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities,” he said. “But they have turned their back on social responsibility. That goes for Jay-Z and Beyonce, for example.”

If Belafonte was misinformed in his comments he’s certainly informed now.
