Billy Ray Cyrus Speaks Out on Miley Cyrus’ VMAs Performance
"Of course I'll always be here for Miley. Can't wait to see her when she gets home," the 'Achy Breaky Heart' singer said diplomatically. Way to toe the line there, Papa Bear Billy. He continued, "She's still my little girl and I'm still her dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change."
Billy Ray's got her back. That doesn’t mean that he won't shake his finger at her behind closed doors. Even though Miley is about to turn 21 in November, that doesn't mean she's above a talking to from dad. Even Lady Gaga's father Joe Germanotta exerts his influence over his daughter and she's nearing 30!
JT put things in context, saying, "Listen, man, you know, it's the VMAs. What did you guys expect?," in a post-VMAs radio chat. "I like Miley. I like her a lot. I think, you know, she's young. She's letting everybody know that she's growing up."
He also reiterated that it's the VMAs, where anything goes, as opposed to a more buttoned up affair, like the Grammys. JT furthered, "I just think it's the VMAs. It's not like she did it at the Grammys," he said. "Let her do her thing, you know?" He thought the bears that took the stage with Cyrus were cool, too.
He does have a point there. His ex Britney Spears made out with Madonna one year, which was such a spectacle that most people forget that Madge also made out with Christina Aguilera three seconds later.
We must admit. Miley executed this shizz perfectly. She is the hot topic of national conversation thanks to her antics. We bet your parents are even talking about her twerkage.
'Bangerz' is out in less than two months. Cyrus played her hand and it should pay off when her album drops.
