Cameron Mitchell shocked us all when he walked away from his spot on 'The Glee Project,' and in turn, a potential role on 'Glee' in Season 3. But he hasn't given up on his career as an entertainer. WetPaint caught up with Cameron and filled us in on the latest.

As of late, the 21-year-old nerdy singer has been pumping up a new EP that he put together completely on his own. Cameron unveiled 'Love Can Wait' back in May, and the mini-album is appropriately named, given that he left the show because he was uncomfortable in acting scenes that forced him to get close to the opposite sex.

Despite leaving 'The Glee Project,' Cam was still voted Oxygen's Fan Favorite in the end, and he's doing pretty well without the show supporting him. 'Love Can Wait' premiered at No. 9 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart for brand new artists.

Had Cameron stayed, however, Ryan Murphy told him that he'd already been brainstorming a role for him. In the end, the final four 'Glee Project' contestants -- Damian McGinty, Samuel Larsen, Alex Newell and Lindsay Pearce -- were given spots on the show.

'Glee' kicks off with the new 'The Glee Project' characters on Sept. 20.
