Chloe Moretz + Piers Morgan Applaud Pink in Feud Over Kim Kardashian’s Naked Bod

Regardless of your opinion on Kim Kardashian, we should all agree that she’s extremely social media-savvy. What naysayers dismiss as cries for attention are in fact the fulcrum of her media empire, with far more reach than even the 11-season reality show that helped make her famous. But when Kim posted a nude selfie on Monday morning — neither the first nor fifth time we’ve seen her naked — she couldn’t have anticipated the firestorm that followed, sparking public debate and multiple celeb-on-celeb feuds. Kim’s already hit back at Chloe Grace Moretz and news presenter Piers Morgan’s negative opinions, but Pink‘s recent remarks on the subject have inspired further commentary from both.

Chloe replied to Pink’s March 8 tweet, in which she cited International Women’s Day as a reason to shout out the world’s women “using their brains, their strength, their work ethic, their talent, their ‘magic’ they were born with” instead of “your body, your sex, your tits and asses” to gain pride and self respect. Pink’s final words, “You’ll never have to make silly excuses for yourself,” were thought by some (Piers and Chloe included) to refer to Kim’s essay on female empowerment posted after the nudes backlash. Chloe clearly cosigns Pink’s message.

Shortly after Kim tweeted nude #1, Chloe had replied with, “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.” After receiving mixed responses, The 5th Wave star asserted that her criticism wasn’t intended to “slut-shame” Kim.

Chloe, Amber Rose, Ariel Winter, Miley Cyrus and Sharon Osbourne have all weighed in on whether a wife and mother’s choice to bare her own naked body is empowering, or just a bad example and cheap attention grab. In Osbourne’s case, she even offered her own nude solidarity-selfie. But Piers Morgan isn’t content to leave the discussion to those directly affected by these issues — you know, WOMEN — so he’s here to define “female empowerment” for you.

Piers wrote an open letter to Kim in the Daily Mail on March 8, chiding her after she shut down his condescending offer to “buy [her] some new clothes” on Twitter. He also suggested that Kanye was ghostwriting her tweets, and her latest nude photos were a “desperate attempt” to distract from her younger sisters Kylie and Kendall’s rising fame.

“Kim’s 35 now, and the mother of two very young children,” he wrote. “The time has come for Kim to consider the unthinkable and actually start putting her clothes back on.”

Meanwhile, model-actress Emily Ratajkowski (who rose to fame being naked in Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines video) has filed a nude selfie of her own. Her “What to wear tonight?” caption seems to obliquely reference Kim’s original “When you’re like I have nothing to wear,” though she may just be sharing the latest of her many nude Instagram posts. Given Emily’s thoughtful February essay on owning her own sexuality in Lena Dunham’s Lenny newsletter, we’re willing to bet she stands with Kim.

Which side of the debate do you fall on? Do you, like Piers, want to put Kim in shame jail, or do agree with Amber Rose’s view that “If a grown mother of 2 is comfortable with her body and wants to show it off that’s none of ur business or anyone else’s”? Have you also posted a nude solidarity-selfie? Let us know in the comments.
