Those who don't want to ring in 2012 with Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest have another option this year. Coldplay will appear on an extended 90-minute 'Austin City Limits' concert special, airing on PBS stations nationwide at 11PM EST on Dec. 31.

Viewers can also stream the special online at pbs.org at the same time. ACL executive producer Terry Lickona said in a press release, "We decided to go big with Coldplay -- really big. So we came up with the idea of celebrating New Year's Eve with a 90-minute special. All the hits plus their brand new songs. It'll be a great way to kick off 2012!"

Even though the special was taped back in September, the event was designed to look live. Billboard reports there was even a fake countdown to midnight and a confetti celebration to ring in the "new year" during the taping.

The September concert featured Coldplay's first-ever live performance of the 'Mylo Xyloto' ballad 'Up in Flames,' as well as 'Paradise' and 'Charlie Brown' as part of a medley of new songs.
