The third grouping on tonight's episode of 'X Factor' featured Skyelor Anderson (he sings country), Paige Ogle (she has a nice voice and we haven't really seen her before), Dani Knights (another large voice), Cari Fletcher (she has a star's name and voice) and Leroy Bell (a soulful singer who is much older than he looks.)

The singers were asked to put together their version of the Eagles' 'Desperado,' a slow burning ballad rich with emotion.

Again, each singer has totally different style and it allowed Bell and Knights to stand out as they took their turns. Fletcher was above-average, as well. None of them are similar, but they were the most appealing.

It's not that the others were bad, because that was nice the case. They just weren't earth-shattering. We think it was the song.

We're not suggesting that we know better, but perhaps the judges shouldn't ask such different singers with no previous history of performing together to tackle a song. Just sayin', Simon.
