Continuing his quest to use MTV's 'Jersey Shore' as a catapult into lasting superstardom, DJ Pauly D has locked down co-hosting duties at this year's mtvU Woodie Awards, where he'll appear alongside 'In the Dark' singer Dev.

"It's pretty much live, so you can't slip up and you can't curse," an understandably concerned Pauly told Us Weekly before taping the half-hour special, which took place at SXSW on Thursday (March 15). In spite of the no-profanity clause, Pauly called the gig "pretty cool," pointing out that "I'm actually doing two roles -- I'm deejaying and hosting."

Pauly thinks hosting the Woodies is "pretty cool," but he also thinks the awards themselves "are cool." Why? Because "It's all about music and I love music. It doesn't have to do with album sales or most popular people. It has to do with the performances and the music." According to Pauly, the eight-year-old awards show has been responsible for breaking some of the most popular acts of our time: "Some of the greatest people started there," he argued. "Wiz Khalifa started at the woodies. Kings of Leon started at The Woodies."

The 8th annual Woodies, which will also include appearances from Santigold, Mac Miller, Steve Aoki, and more, are scheduled to air on March 18 at 8PM.
