Watch Ed Sheeran Cover Bob Dylan’s ‘Masters of War’ [Video]

Subscribe to PopCrush on

British ginger kid Ed Sheeran covered Bob Dylan’s beloved, 1963-issued classic ‘Masters of War,’ which protested the build up of arms during the Cold War and was set to the melody of a previously existing traditional song. It’s the new school tackling the old.

With his acoustic guitar strapped to his person, Sheeran delivers the song in such a personal and passionate way that you’d think he wrote it himself. In lesser hands, this would have been a bad idea. But Sheeran nails it.

The constantly switching camera angles — up close and pulling back for a torso shot — also make the performance feel more immediate, more intimate, and way more connected.
