Ed Sheeran was the musical guest on 'Saturday Night Live' and in the opening monologue with host Seth Rogen, he got a special introduction by his friend, Taylor Swift. Usually, musical stars will play a new single, and then one familiar hit. But Sheeran opted to instead play two new tracks, 'Don't' and 'Sing,' both off his forthcoming album 'X.'

Without following the lyrics, 'Don't' sounds like an upbeat tune but is actually a bitter break-up song, widely believed to be about his relationship with Ellie Goulding and her rumored affair with One Direction's Niall Horan. The harsh lyrics include, “I never saw him as a threat / ‘Til you disappeared with him to have sex / If I show courtesy and respect to someone, I expect to receive it. / When we're in the same hotel and I'm downstairs at my party and you're upstairs doing that, that’s disrespectful.”

Sheeran also performed 'Sing,' which is the lead single off 'X.' Co-written and produced by Pharrell Williams, the track is more positive compared to 'Don't' and celebrates a loved one. "I need you darling / Come on set the tone / If you feel you're falling / Won't you let me know."

You can listen and watch Sheeran's performance on the videos below. The 'X' album will be released on June 23.
