Ed Sheeran + Elton John Duet on ‘Candle in the Wind’ at Oscar Party [VIDEO]

Subscribe to PopCrush on

We love it when a celebrated artist of the new generation collides with an established and beloved icon, as ginger kid Ed Sheeran did with the legend that is Elton John, performing John’s epic ‘Candle in the Wind’ at a 2014 Oscars party.

While Ed and Elton performed together at the 2013 Grammys, with Elton joining Sheeran’s ‘The A Team,’ this performance felt more natural, fluid, loose and off the cuff, as it took place during John’s annual Oscar viewing party (March 2).

With Elton seated at his piano tickling the ivories, Ed stood and strummed his guitar as they harmonized. These two English artists from different eras and with “E” first names certainly exhibited terrific chemistry and their voices played off one another beautifully.

The video quality is not the best, but that’s secondary, since the audio is solid and that’s what most important with this performance.
