Girls Aloud Announce Split Following Their Tour

After 11 years as a group, Girls Aloud has announced that they will be going their separate ways! The news came shortly after performing their final show on their tour in Liverpool. The girls took to Twitter to announce their split:

Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together . Love you lots.

Just like all good pop stars the ladies all tweeted their thanks and praise to fans from their personal accounts, but we found Nadine Coyle’s comments the most interesting. She posted,

You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn’t stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going. Xxxx

Dang! Could this split get ugly? The pop world is in dire need of a Axl Rose/Slash-type feud after all. Most of the ladies posted messages akin to Cheryl Cole’sm which read:

To the people that have been to almost as many shows as we have lol let’s make this a celebration of the past 10 years

We have to admit, this announcement doesn’t seem like a total surprise. This particular set of shows had the scent of a farewell tour. The girls came off a three year hiatus to perform in support of their greatest hits album ‘Ten.’ We kind of saw this one coming, but that surely doesn’t make it any easier!

We wish all the Girls Aloud ladies the best!
