We haven't looked forward to a 'Glee' cover this much since 'Ice Ice Baby.'

Just when you finally got Rebecca Black's unfortunate viral hit 'Friday' out of your head, the cast have come along to revive the silly-but-hummable tune, performing it on next week's 'Prom Queen' episode, as we reported three weeks ago.

Artie, Puck and Sam (Kevin McHale, Mark Salling and Chord Overstreet) have the honor of performing the song, giving it a new energy but failing to rescue it completely.

Let's be honest -- you really can't save a song whose opening verse is dedicated to eating cereal and catching the bus. But the cast gives it an honest try, embracing the goofy lyrics and exuberantly giving their all.

Just like the original, the more-danceable 'Glee' version gets stuck in your head. Still, the cover's only real value is its novelty factor. And that rap verse is just brutal.

The cover's failure is no fault of the 'Glee' performers, but of the song's writers, who nevertheless figure to be laughing all the way to the bank once the 'Glee' version hits iTunes.
