When it comes to serious rock n' roll infused musical goodness, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals don't mess around. In the band's latest single, 'Paris (Ooh La La),' Potter brings us more of that sexy sass that first put the band's name on the map -- and will hopefully put the Nocturnals onto the Top 40 charts.

This track is one of Potter's grizzliest and growliest, and though it falls shorts on a lyrical deep end, as it's mostly chorus, it makes strides in guitar licks and the singer's breathy lines. The fiery chorus, which repeats itself a few times throughout the song, sets the tone with just the right amount of catchy pop and bossy rock:

"If I was a man I'd make my move / If I was a blade I'd shave you smooth / If I was a judge I'd break the law / And if I was from Paris / If I was from Paris / I would say / Oooh la la la la la la"

“When I wrote ‘Paris,’ I was listening to the Kinks nonstop, and I was going for something with a big, primal riff, like ‘You Really Got Me,’" Potter says of her latest release, from the band's 2010 self-titled album. "It was the first time I ever really just said, ‘I’m not going to try to tell a story, and I’m not going to try to communicate an emotion. I’m just going to say, basically, 'I want to have sex right now.'' It’s my favorite song to perform."

While 'Paris (Ooh La La)' is 'simple,' that's it's charm, because instead of leaving us lacking, it actually brings a force and blisters us with the power of old-school influenced rock music -- leaving us begging for more.

Potter recently dove into Top 40 when she 'discovered' the greatness of Beyonce, and sang her praises with a cover of the R&B goddess' 'Why Don't You Love Me.' Hopefully, this second push of the GPN single towards a pop radio world will give it the attention it deserves, and Potter and her night owls will find themselves alongside Beyonce on the mainstream charts.
