Jeremih – Recording Artists From Chicago

Known for his smooth voice and even smoother lyrics on bedroom anthems like 'Birthday Sex,' R&B hit maker Jeremih is a born and bred Chicagoan.

The 25-year-old crooner (full name Jeremih Felton) was born into a "musically-inclined" family and quickly developed a love for not only singing, but also playing instruments like piano, saxophone, and many more. "My mother and my grandmother could sing, so it was just natural. I’m a musician first though," he told Chicago Defender back in '09. Growing up, he'd play drums in the band at his local church, and was also a member of his high school's marching band.

After deciding to forego an engineering degree to study music business, the 'Down on Me' vocalist was able to make some production (because he does that too!) connections and land an audition with L.A. Reid. After performing for the record exec, the triple threat inked a deal with Def Jam Recordings that very same day.

Now, with two full-length LPs in his discography and another one due out in 2013, this Chicago native is showing no signs of slowing down. It's a good thing too, because we're in need of a raunchy, sexy, slow jam for the year '13.
