Kate Hudson woke up feeling very patriotic on Saturday morning (July 4). And yes, we know it's the 4th of July, but the movie star had no other way to express her American spirit than by covering the "Star-Spangled Banner."

Dressed in floral pajama pants, a navy t-shirt and a pair of sunnies, Kate started belting out the lyrics to the American national anthem. Giving them her own soulful rock tone, her raspy vocals are strong and definitely knocked it out of the park. While she does an amazing job at singing, the only sad part is that we only get 15 seconds of it and really want to hear more. Did we mention she did the performance all while casually holding a cup of coffee?

"7:30am and I'm feeling seriously patriotic! Happy 4th of July! #ProudAmerican #StarSpangledBanner #RedWhiteAndBlue #GearingUpForFootballSeason #MyKidsAreGoingToBeSoEmbarrassed #WokeUpTheNeighbors," she captioned the clip.

While Kate is a mega star on the silver screen, she's also shown off her vocal chops in the 2009 musical Nine where she sings "Cinema Italiano" and received a number of nominations for that performance. She also went toe-to-toe with Lea Michele in Glee as Cassandra July, one of Rachel Berry's professors. You can watch their rendition of "All That Jazz" below.
