Fresh off last week's major performance of the national anthem at the Super Bowl, Kelly Clarkson was back in the Sunday night spotlight for another major performance! Tonight (Feb. 12), the 'Mr. Know It All' singer teamed up with her friend, country crooner Jason Aldean, for a live rendition of their hit ballad 'Don't You Wanna Stay' at the 2012 Grammy Awards.

It was a true pop and country music mashup, since genre boundaries are effectively erased at the Grammys. It's music's biggest night, regardless of genre.

Clarkson looked radiant in a black dress with a plunging neckline, and the live chemistry that she and Aldean, proudly sporting his 10-gallon hat, exude was emanating from the TV screen, even if Clarkson and Alden dealt with mix and mic issues during the perf. It was not flawless, but they were troopers.

The dynamic duo made the rounds performing the song at country-specific awards shows when it was current, and it still sounds fresh even though it's a familiar song. Clarkson has always flirted with the country genre, and when she sings with Aldean, technical difficulties or not, she comes alive. It makes us think we might have to share the original 'American Idol' with another genre sooner or later.

The Grammy stage is ripe for these kinds of duets and Clarkson and Aldean did the genres they pledge their allegiance to proud by being consummate pros.
