Kelly Clarkson Thought She’d Be Single Forever Until Brandon Blackstock Proposed

'Miss Independent' herself, Kelly Clarkson, broke down in tears when Brandon Blackstock proposed to her. Cue your "awwws" right now!

"It was a proper proposal -- very romantic," a pal of Clarkson's told Us Weekly. Really, does this girl deserve any less? What's more: "And yes, she cried!"

Her fiancee was working with a jeweler for months on the perfect sparkler for Clarkson's newly svelte ring finger. Clarkson clearly loved it, because not only did she say yes, but she also posted a photo of the huge, gorgeous rock for her fans. “Everyone has been asking about my engagement ring, so here it is," she wrote. "It’s a yellow canary diamond with diamonds around it and Brandon designed it with Johnathon Arndt! They did an amazing job! I can’t wait to make Brandon’s ring with Johnathon as well!” Too cute.

It turns out, before Blackstock came along, Clarkson thought she'd be forced to sing her own breakup anthems for eternity -- and with a lot of feeling to boot. "Kelly had a rough start with love, for sure, and a long dry spell," a pal spilled. "But Brandon was worth the wait." Another friend added, "She honestly thought she'd never find anyone and that she'd be single forever. But she's changed. You can see it in how great she looks and how happy she is."

Since she's so in love, you can bet that Clarkson will celebrate in a big way. Though she's previously said she'd elope, that plan is out the window. "[She] wants to go all-out," a friend said. Though Clarkson is one of the biggest and best pop stars of her generation, her Texan roots are coming out, according to a pal: "She'll keep it country, though."

We seriously couldn't be happier for Kel. She's so happy and she deserves it after getting so many of us through our own heartaches!
